An Interior Department freeze on certain international grants will continue, even as some lawmakerssuggest it's time to reopen the funding pipeline.Prompted by members of Congress and scathing media reports of overseas human-rights abuses, thedepartment in September put a hold on millions of dollars in some Fish and Wildlife Service internationalaffairs grants aimed at assisting African anti-poaching efforts."We're doing a programmatic review," Interior Secretary David Bernhardt told Sen. Chris Van Hollen (DMd.)during a budget hearing yesterday, "and when I get that review done, either we'll have the ability toprevent that from happening, or not."
