EPA review of flame retardant falls short, groups say

EPA's conclusion that a flame retardant does not pose any "unreasonable risks" does not adequately factor in exposure through fish consumption, among other factors, health and tribal advocates claim. EPA currently is holding a one-week meeting in Rosslyn, Va., where an independent panel of advisers from the scientific community reviewed the agency's draft evaluation of two chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act, including the flame retardant.
