California firefighters and environmental advocates have asked the Ninth Circuit to review the EPA’sassessment of the risks of a flame retardant used in building materials.In September, the Environmental Protection Agency found several uses of chemicals in the cyclicaliphatic bromide cluster, also known as HBCD, that would pose risks to the environment andworkers. The Sierra Club, California Professional Firefighters, California Communities AgainstToxics, and Learning Disabilities Association of America asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for theNinth Circuit Dec. 8 to review the EPA’s final risk evaluation of HBCD.
