USGS: Accelerated rate threatens Fla. mangrove forests

Rising sea levels driven by climate change threaten to swamp more of Florida's iconic mangrove trees, U.S. Geological Survey scientists warn in a study. Examining mangrove-occupied islands in Florida Bay, located between the Florida Keys and the state's southern tip, the researchers determined that sea-level rise is occuring "four to six" times faster now than during the period that ended 2,800 years ago.
