Global warming and environmental pollution is a growing concern in China. Plastic bags have been removed from every retail store overnight. Up to 40 per cent of national and global pollution comes from building operation and construction, including the coal burning-to-electricity needed to maintain these buildings. The State Key Laboratory of Sub-Tropical Building Science is the first institution in China to produce a working and constructible model of a true zero-energy residential complex.
