Full Disclosure: The Perils and Promise of Transparency

This title analyzes information policies that the authors label "targeted transparency policies." These policies put specific information in the hands of those who need it, whether it is corporate earnings disclosure, automobile rollover ratings, or school report cards, to name a few of the fifteen U.S. and three international policies examined. The authors are the co-directors of the Transparency Policy Project at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. They use this book to describe the common characteristics of these policies as well as to analyze why some are effective and others are either ineffective or meet goals other than the policy goals they were designed to further.
