Regulations to tackle drought involving such tools as hosepipe bans may need revision. They were "designed years ago and over the coming months we will want to review them," said the new environment minister, Ian Pearson. Speaking at the Institute of International Affairs' latest water conference in London, Pearson said there would be a further meeting to discuss leakage in November. Metering would be re-examined, particularly for water-stressed areas, "and we need to take this forward in the coming months," he said.
