Asian makers focus on high-end graphics CSTN LCD modules

Mobile phones remain the strongest market driver for graphics LCD modules in Asia, with demand forecast to grow by 20 percent this year. About 50 percent of mainland China's graphics LCD module output this year is expected to be targeted at the mobile phone sector. Demand for mobile phones is estimated to grow by 20 percent this year. Other application segments also expected to drive graphics LCD module demand this year include digital cameras, PDAs, MP3 players, notebook PCs and A/V equipment. According to Taiwan's Industrial Technology Intelligence Services (ITIS), nearly 40 per-cent of TN or CSTN LCDs produced are used in mobile phones.
