Driven by bullish market forecasts, mainland China and Taiwan manufacturers are establishing production facilities and R & D centers. Raw speakers account for over 70 percent of mainland China's overall acoustic components industry. The country supplies about 35 percent of the global raw speaker output. Last year, mainland China turned out about 1.15 billion units, up 15 percent over the previous year. The China Electroacoustic Component Trade Association (CECTA) expects mainland China's raw speaker output to grow to 1.33 billion units this year, up 15.65 percent compared to last year. Mainland China has over 1,000 makers, including 50 to 100 foreign-owned companies. More than 200 makers are capable of export.
