Xiamen government buoys local optoelectronic industry

Strong support from the city government has helped make Xiamen become the fourth largest optoelectronic industry in mainland China. Total output from more than 100 optoelectronic enterprises in the city was valued at $2 billion in 2006, and by 2010 is forecast to reach $13.3 billion. Top players in Xiamen's optoelectronics segment include Intex (Xiamen) Optoelectronics Co. Ltd, Xiamen Sanan Electronics Co. Ltd, Xiamen Hualian Electronics Co. Ltd and Xiamen StarLightTechnologies Co. Ltd.
