In-car displays, IoT devices drive TFT-LCD module category

As mobile electronics shift to AMOLED display technology and as overall demand for these portable devices shrinks, the market for small and midsize TFT-LCD modules is projected to have a negative growth in the coming years. In 2020, due to the pandemic's impact, only 1.81 billion TFT-LCD modules in these size categories were shipped worldwide, declining markedly by 19.7 percent YoY, according to DigiTimes. As for shipments of these displays for smartphones and tablets, their respective CAGRs are projected to be -0.8 and -12.7 percent from 2019 to 2025. In the years ahead then, in-car displays and Internet of Things (IoT) applications will become the key applications that will fuel the demand for small and midsize TFT-LCD modules. Smart household appliances are another bright spot.
