The 15,000 Himalayan glaciers that create the largest block of fresh water outside of the Polar Ice Caps are suddenly melting so fast that they are drying up. In a few decades, they may simply disappear.rn"Glaciers in the Himalaya are receding faster than in any other part of the world," the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned last year. "If the present rate continues, the likelihood of them disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high if the Earth keeps warming at the current rate."
