IEA: LACK OF BINDING COPENHAGEN PACT TO COST ADDITIONAL $1 TRILLION

A lack of a binding commitment from the Copenhagen Accord has increased the cost of meeting climate change goals by $1 trillion, according to the International Energy Agency's latest World Energy Outlook. "The Copenhagen Accord and the agreement among G20 countries to phase out subsidies are important steps forward. But, these moves still fall a very long way short of what is required to set us on the path to a truly sustainable energy system," IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka said at the London launch of the annual report last week.
