Dr. Robert Koerner's column on page 16 identifies two key trends in current engineering practice: a reduction in the amount of project and research information available in conventional print format, and the growing utilization of electronic resources. Greater incorporation of electronic exchange is not surprising, given the global connectedness of engineers. For our field, anyhow, it makes sense. It isn't uncommon to find three or four continents represented on a single project's team. (Consultants, insurers, designers, contractors, construction personnel, manufacturers, etc.) Even small projects are part of our international web. Furthermore, designs and technologies are influenced from international dialogues. GFR is proud to be part of the movement to make information readily available in multiple formats. Our print format remains, but to it we're adding an online version with searchable archives and expanded content.
