Geophysics Applied to the Development and Production in Mature Fields

The Sociedade Brasileira de Geofisica (SBGf), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Latin American Geophysical Union (ULG) are teaming to conduct in 2008 a Forum to focus discussions on the issues surrounding the challenges of improving production in mature fields. The current high oil prices have sparked interest in fields that were previously abandoned and also on improving the recovery rate of producing fields. Some of these fields can be already termed as mature and include not only onshore, but also offshore areas that have been producing for more than 20 years. We also have to think ahead and gather the experiences made so far and plan how they will be applied to fields that are starting to produce, before they experience decline.
