摘要

P-wave attribute analysis from the walkaround VSP survey is an efficient approach for the characterization of fracture-induced anisotropy of reservoirs. Overburden correction is crucial to obtain an accurate estimate of the reservoir amplitude. The pseudo-transmission coefficient (PTC) is a measure of the amplitude attenuation without the effect of the overburden. The effectiveness of PTC has been demonstrated with land data from an area characterized by severe near-surface variations/features as often seen in arid areas such as Saudi Arabia. Fracture-induced traveltime, polarization, and amplitude anisotropy have been observed and are consistent with the direction of fluid movement.
