摘要

Significant savings can be gained with sparse shot and sparse node surveys, with small compromises on image quality and signal to noise ratio. We find that-in the particular data set analyzed here-reducing the shot effort is more effective than reducing the node density. We estimate that sparse node surveys would not be good enough for detailed reservoir characterization and monitoring, but will be adequate for full-azimuth ex- ploration surveys with complex overburden such as basalt and salt.
