Application of the simplified land consolidation procedure according to § 86 of the German Land consolidation act dissolving land use conflicts within the scope of a nature conservation project

The paper describes how the simplified land consolidation procedure according to the German land consolidation act (FlurbG) has been applied for a large-scale nature conservation project within a short term. The main challenges which had to be met were the acquisition and provision of land in accordance to the interests of the property owners and farmers. As a result of the procedure not only public objectives but also private benefits have been achieved.
