Inspiring action for the improvement of roads in Europe

According to the European Commission (CE), transport systems are important for the European economy, and they are regarded as a major support for the community socio-economic model. Generating jobs and economic growth, they also favour mobility, commerce and exchanges. Within this general framework, the road plays an essential role, owing mainly to its proximity and to the fact that it offers immediate access to services, to economic activity, to leisure and to mobility. It forms an integral part of the life of European citizens.
