Als deutscher Landschaftsarchitekt in Dänemark zu arbeiten, dazu noch in einem Büro im jütländischen Kolding, in der Provinz also, das bedeutet, die unbekannten Nachbarn im Norden kennenzulernen, deren Leben unterm Danebrog.%Landscape is not a rare resource in Denmark. Consequently there is little awareness of the need to protect or conserve nature, and thus landscape planning and impact mitigation tools do not exist. Urban parks do not play an important role, either: town-dwellers drive out to their coastal cottages on the weekends, while the country-dwellers flocks to the attractions of the towns. Thus Danish landscape architects are mainly occupied on projects concerning roads, cemeteries, urban renewal, street furniture and so on, and not with landscape ecology or conservation of nature.
