The healthcare sector went on a tear beginning in 2011, thanks in large part to the passage of the Affordable Care Act and its impending implementation. The Health Care Select Sector SPDR exchange-traded fund more than doubled from 2011 through 2015. Since then, the ETF has experienced more two-way movement. With the election of Donald Trump, who has pledged at various times to repeal or repeal and replace ACA (aka Obamacare) and who has a Republican majority in both Houses of Congress consisting of many mem- bers that ran on appealing Obamacare, the sector should experience more volatility.
