A Systems View of the Cultural Personality: A Mimetic Approach to a Better Future

This paper explores a systems view of cultural personality to help find a better understanding of our future. Before we begin, let us define the terms: "memes," "meme pools," and "cultural personality."rnThe term meme (meaning "a unit of cultural information") was coined by Oxford biologist Richard Dawkins as an analog to gene ("a unit of heredity") to help make clear how cultural experiences were transferred from one generation to the next, much as genes are transmitted from parents to children. (Dawkins, 1976).
