Big changes are occurring in the way the chilled fish sector packs its produce, as the industry goes all out to convince the consumer that sealing in freshness equates to added value. This particular sector has been coming under increasing pressure from major retailers to switch to heat-sealing ― something which is relatively new to the fish industry hut which has been tried, tested and branded a winner by other food producers. There has been some resistance to change but, with help and advice from the likes of Packaging Automation ― a leading exponent of the art of beat-sealing ― there need be no problem in making the switch. The company has been in the heat-sealing business for more than 40 years, so it is not without the experience ― or the product range ― to lend a helping hand. And with the pace of the switch from flow wrap and shrink film trays to the heat-sealed variety gathering pace, there will he companies who need aid and advice, it says.
