A Challenging Road Toward a Rewarding Destination

The authors of "The Business Case for Better Buildings" address a highly subjective issue, one that undoubtedly has been the topic of general discussion for generations. To their great credit, their premise is indeed evidence based-and the evidence that they offer is compelling. I could argue, in fact, that the authors have been overly cautious in defending their argument. Fable Hospital is not just a theory. It exists to greater and lesser degrees in a number of new healthcare facilities around the United States. I have every confidence and expectation that additional evidence from these settings will beget improved facility and operational responses-and this is precisely the point of evidence-based design. Fable Hospital is not an end; it is a beginning.
