Germany's antitrust authority approves Uetersen paper mill takeover

The German Federal Cartel Office gave its unreserved consent to the acquisition of the Stora Enso Uetersen paper mill by a company owned by investment firm Perusa in mid-January. The new owner will reportedly be Unicorn Ltd., a firm that is wholly owned by Perusa and which was founded for the purposes of this transaction. The companies in question had received the good news less than a fortnight after they had filed for approval of the merger. Uetersen's managing director Thomas Rajcsanyi told EUWID that a green light decision by the antitrust authorties had been expected given the absence of overlaps between the financial holding's companies and the paper mill. The closing of the transaction is still subject to internal conditions and is expected to happen in mid-February. The speciality and graphic paper manufacturer is to operate as an independent entity under the Feldmuehle name once the deal closes, Mr Rajcsanyi said.
