Watershed hydrology is dependent on many factors, including land use. The main purpose of this work was to examine, if there is any statistical relationship between land use and ammonium, nitrate, and phosphate concentration in water streams that could be used in a first rough risk assessment determination of water bodies according to Water framework directive. The data of land use, Corine (Coordination of Information on the Environment) Land Cover, were combined with the data of nitrate, ammonium and phosphate concentrations in surface water. Stepwise regression procedure was used in the selection of statistically significant independent variables for the models. There is a statistically significant relationship between different land use in the watershed and pollutants concentration in surface water at the 99% confidence level.
