Lake Palas is an important bird area in the middle Anatolia region of Turkey. The heavy metal contents of the sediment samples from Lake Palas have been determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry after digestion with aqua regia. Iron and manganese were found to be highest, with mean levels of 485 μg/g and 466 μg/g, respectively. In all samples, lead was analyzed to be below the detection limit. The correlations between metal the concentrations were also calculated.
