摘要

Samples of stinging nettle and soil were collected from the area of Podhale Region. A verification of usefulness of stinging nettle as herbal material in the aspect of the heavy metals content (Pb, Cd, Ni, Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn and Cr) was the objective of the work. The content of elements in collected samples was determined by ASA. The method of analysis was evaluated with Mixed Polish Herbs INCT-MPH-2, Polish Certified Reference Material for multi-element trace analysis. The accumulation of heavy metals in individual morphological parts of the stinging nettle was diverse. The biggest amounts of Fe, Cd and Ni were found (120,0.45 and 1.3 μg/g, respectively) were found in the roots of stinging nettle from Podhale Region; the largest amounts of Pb and Cr (12 and 3.8 μg/g, respectively) were found in the leaves, and Mn, Zn and Cu (55, 30 and 15 μg/g, respectively) - in inflorescences. Despite the fact that the stinging nettle shows a high practical ability of accumulation of metals from a soil (e.g. Mn, Zn, Cd and Ni), still Pb and Cr were accumulated in small amounts in the area of Podhale Region.
