Contents of metals (Pb, Cd, Mn, Zn, Cu) were examined in muscle tissue, liver and kidneys of male kid goats from the Podlasie region. Experimental animals were fed a mixture including a 10% share of flaxseed up to 150 days of age. Zn, Cu, Mn and Fe contents were determined by a spectrophotometrically (AAS-1 type spectrophotometer, Carl Zeiss, Jena, Germany). Pb and Cd contents were determined using the extraction method.rnSignificantly lower Pb (0.02 mg kg~(-1)), Zn (46.40 mg kg~(-1)) and Fe (18.20 mg kg~(-1)) concentrations, but a significantly higher Cd concentration (0.004 mg kg~(-1)), were detected in the muscle tissue of kid goats fed the mixture containing a share of flaxseed. For both groups, copper accumulated mainly in liver (47.77 and 50.65 mg kg~(-1) for the experimental and control group, respectively). The level of this element was about 14 times higher than that obtained for kidneys (3.19 and 3.59 mg kg~(-1), respectively), and about 20 times as high as that recorded for the muscle tissue (2.28 and 1.82 mg kg~(-1), respectively).rnThe concentration of metals in muscle tissue, liver and kidney was lower than the permissible norms set by the Ministry of Health (Poland), which makes it possible to classify the tissues as foodstuffs that can be safely consumed.
