Industrial Ecology is the study of material and energy flows through industrial systems, which is also described by the Industrial Symbiosis term. Hence, the global industrial economy can be modeled as a network of industrial processes that extract resources from the Earth and transform those resources into commodities which are entered in the economy chain to meet the needs of humanity. The main target of industrial symbiosis is the quantification of the material flows, the certification and validation of the industrial processes that guide to the formulation of a modern fair society structure and function. However, in order to foster the application of industrial symbiosis concept a decision support tool was developed for the estimation of the caused environmental impacts and for the formulation of the appropriate conditions for providing social and economic services. The decisional context is expressed by the DPSIR analysis in four sections regarding the industrial area management and in parallel in the three sustainability aspects: i. Environmental, ii. Social and iii. Economical. In order to validate the results of the developed methodological procedure, a Hellenic industrial area, named Sindos, was selected as a representative example for its application.
