In Turkey, every year, over 20,000 tonnes of pesticide active ingredients (a.i.) in agriculture are generally used. For fungus and insect control in peanut farming Adana province, Turkey, in 2012, 6 different a.i. were used: carboxin~((WP)), fenbutatin oxide~((SC)), lufenuron~((EC)), mancozeb~((WP)), thiodi-carb~((DF)), and thiram~((WP). The potential risk of pesticide a.i. on non-target organisms was determined by The Pesticide Occupational and Environmental Risk (POCER) indicators. In the present study, due to total potential risk, the highest risk was determined in thiodicarb~((EC)) a.i. (Ex-ceedence Factor (EF) 3.485) to human health and environment. The lowest risk was found for carboxin~((WP)) a.i. due to its 1.000 EF total value for human health and environment. The results of this study showed that environmentally-friendly pesticide application techniques and equipment for protecting of non-target organisms and personnel protective equipment should be used to minimize pesticide exposure and its effects on human health.
