Using SPOTS images and the Landsat TM, we selected Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Land Surface Temperature (LST) as indices of vegetation cover in urban green spaces, and the effects of this cover on temperature. We analyzed the spatial distribution of green spaces varying NDVI levels in Changchun city, China, and further explored the correlation between green space NDVI value and the LST using the spatial analysis in Geographical Information System.
