Charakteristika von CCCs und deren Netzwerk in Deutschland

Recent efforts concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer have substantially improved the outcome and quality of life of cancer patients in Germany. As recently as 2000 an expert review complained that care standards among German tumor centers still varied considerably. In answer to this the German Cancer Aid in cooperation with the German Cancer Society and the Working Group of German Tumor Centers launched a three-stage model to improve the quality of cancer care by the foundation of organ centers, clinical oncology centers as well as oncological centers of excellence.
