The king presides over a military cabinet in matters relating to defense, and has ultimate control over the armed forces in his capacity as supreme commander-in-chief and chief of general staff of the Royal Armed Forces. The military cabinet is answerable to the king. There is no defense ministry as such. Rather, the military is administered by a minister delegate falling under the purview of the office of the prime minister. The budget shows the defense-related funding as going to the "Administration of the National Defense" account, rather than to a formal ministry.
