This December just may be the moment for contrarian black-tie dressing. Yes, the mood is anything but fizzy, yet that's no excuse to be sartorially flat. Take the advice of Rodger Kowall, proprietor of Cuffs, a men's specialty store just outside Cleveland: "When you're putting on a tuxedo, you might as well find a reason to enjoy the moment-use getting dressed up as a catalyst." Granted, you don't have to go as far as Kowall suggests (lining your tux with Hermes silk scarves), but we think his notion of "tuxedo deluxe"-essentially taking the classic look and embellishing it with choice accessories-has a lot of merit. At the very least, you get a new look from an old tux.
