Rodney bogg, the affable managing director of Dubai Golf, has played a significant part in bringing golf to Dubai, creating from the desert sand golf courses acclaimed as "desert miracles" and developing Dubai as a tourist destination. Tiger Woods helped a little too. When Woods was photographed teeing off from the helipad atop the Burj Al Arab before playing in this year's Desert Classic, Dubai's reputation as a prime golfing destination was sealed. "That photograph appeared in almost every newspaper and golf magazine in the world. That's the scope of the publicity that you get from hosting international tournaments," says Bogg, who is as modest about his managerial skills as he is about his golfing ability.
