Plantar pressures and adherence in a combination of indoor and regular custom-made footwear for people with diabetes at high risk of foot ulceration

Adherence to wearing custom-made footwear is a known problem in people with diabetes who are at high risk of foot ulceration, especially indoors (Waaijman et al., 2013). Footwear that is specifically made for indoor use and that weighs less, is clean and easy to donn and doff might improve adherence. However, as it replaces the regular custom-made footwear of the patient, it needs to have similar offloading properties compared to the regular custom-made footwear.
