First-quarter records mild inflation increase over '05

First-quarter inflation is up a relatively mild 1.62% compared to last year's levels. The market is fueled by higher prices in all sectors except for meat. The year-to-date first-quarter FSD Market Basket Index is at 9418.34, up 1.62% from last year, while the monthly index is down 0.03% from last year. The year-to-date FSD produce index is at 814.18, up 8.80% from last year and down 1.31% from last month. Fresh vegetable prices helped fuel the increase, jumping 11.77% from last year on a year-to-date basis; still, the produce index is down 2.13% from last month's levels.
