The Department for International Development (DFID) has made £A million available to fund round 6 of the Agri-Tech Catalyst, a competition run by Innovate UK aiming to increase the pace and scale of uptake of agricultural innovation by farmers in developing countries. UK businesses and universities can apply for funding to work with developing country partners on agri-tech innovations. The programme is aiming to achieve: 1. a sustained reduction of poverty and hunger for smallholder farmers 2. a sustainable intensification in developing country agriculture 3. improvements in human health and diversity in diets and nutrition 4. a positive impact on rural income and food security 5. opportunities for trade in agricultural products.
