A multi-country Salmonella outbreak associated with eggs from a German producer: food chain investigations in the United Kingdom

Between May and September 2014 there was an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis phage type 14b (PT14b) in the United Kingdom. Public Health England (PHE) launched an investigation to identify the source of infection and implement control measures. During the same period, outbreaks caused by a similar strain of Salmonella Enteritidis were detected in other European Union Member States.
