A family butchers at the centre of an E. coli outbreak is facing prosecution over a string of alleged food hygienernoffences.rnJanet Bell and Trevor Robinson, of Robinsons Butchers, were due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court onrn27 September charged with food safety and hygiene breaches.rnAn outbreak of E.coli O157 last July resulted in 15 people becoming infected.rnA previous report by Public Health England’s outbreak control team stated the likely cause of the outbreak wasrncross-contamination from raw meat to ready–to-eat food at Robinsons’ Billingham branch and “to a lesser degree”rnat the Wingate branch.
