Aberdeen takeaway owner fined for hygiene failings

The former owner of an Aberdeen takeaway restaurant has been fined £780 for failing to carry out hygiene improvements. Muhammed Arshad was running the Ayisha Tandoori outlet in Torry last summer when the business failed to comply with improvements inspectors had deemed necessary. The accused, of Balnagask Road, first came to the attention of authorities on 23 June 2017 when hygiene inspectors visited the premises. They ordered him to “implement and maintain a permanent food safety management system”, to ensure that all supervisors undertook a course in food safety and to install a hand basin in the kitchen so that workers could wash their hands. But when they returned on 26 July none of those orders had been carried out and Arshad later admitted three charges of failing to comply with hygiene improvement notices.
