A landlady has been fined £4,000 after environmental health inspectors found her pub kitchen was covered in grime. Swindon Borough Council said Nicola King, food business operator at the Queen's Tap on Station Road, had no food safety management system in place and no information on how the risk of E.Coli bacteria would be managed. When inspectors visited the pub in December 2017, they found it to be dirty, with cracked floor and wall tiles. Pictures shown to magistrates showed a buildup of grime on the oven, walls and floor. Cllr Cathy Martyn, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for housing and public safety, said: “It is vitally important that establishments selling food adhere to the proper food safety standards. “By failing to do so, Ms King was creating serious health risks for her customers. “Public safety is one of this Council’s top priorities and we will not hesitate to take action if the proper food safety standards are not met.” The council said it had tried to work with Ms King before bringing the prosecution.
