Afton, Minn.-based Suntava, Inc. recently announced its now-certified organic purple corn will be ready for purchase when this year's October harvest is complete. The grains from the U.S. grown, non-bionengineered, gluten-free corn is ideal for products, including chips, cereals, tortillas, baked goods and craft beer. Research conducted by Massachusetts-based Brunswick Laboratories showed the product returns greater antioxidant activity than fruits - including leaders like blueberries, acai berries and pomegranate juice. According to the company, the purple corn has an ORAC value more than twice that of blueberries.
