U.S. annual organic food sales near $48 billion

Organic food sales in the United States rose 5-9% in 2018 to reach $47.9 billion, according to the 2019 Organic Industry Survey released May 17 by the Organic Trade Association. Organic food sales made up 5-7% of overall U.S. food sales, which rose 2.3% in 2018. The U.S. organic market grew 6.3% to $52.5 billion as non-food sales increased nearly 11% to reach $4.6 billion.
