Pregis (pregis.com) has acquired Sussex, Wisconsin-based Sharp Packaging Systems (sharppackaging.com). The acquisition will enable Pregis to expand its product portfolio to include a complete line of flexible packaging bagging systems and materials. Last year, Sharp completed construction of its new 160,000 sq. ft. state of the art manufacturing facility in Sussex to keep up with growing demand for the company's product line. In total, Sharp manufactures in three locations and employs approximately 200 people. Going forward, Sharp will operate as a Pregis business unit, headed by current president Mike Menz. Sharp is the fourth acquisition Pregis has completed in the past three years under ownership of Olympus Partners. The other three include 3M Company's protective films business, EasyPack paper-based protective packaging systems and Eagle Film Extruders.
