Stirling Service over Arnhem

In september 1944 Operation market garden, the largest airborne operation ever, took place over and on Dutch territory. The northern most of the campaigns comprising this assault bears a name forever connected with failure and tragedy — Arnhem. This is perhaps why it was not until September 15 last year that a memorial to the aircrew that paid the ultimate price was unveiled.
