Over 350 Junkers Ju 52 tri-motor transports were made available for the invasion of Norway and they were to play a major role in the armada that hit the Scandinavian country. They provided a vital air bridge and, in the case of the survivor preserved at Gardermoen, a deliberate oneway method of getting specialist forces on the ground. On the nose of the magnificently restored example at the Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection is a badge that shows the initial intent of the aircraft - a somewhat crude map of Britain with a dagger through it.
