Vimy retires

After attending numerous shows in the UK, Vickers Vimy replica NX71MY is to be retired. It is due to go on permanent display shortly at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey.rnA number of factors, such as costs and the difficulties of operating it on a restricted foreign (US) registration, led to the decision to not fly the aircraftrnanymore. Its last appearance was at the Goodwood Revival meeting (see page 125) and it was then flown to Dunsfold, Surrey, on September 21.rnIt is hoped that the Vimy can be landed at Brooklands before the winter sets in and it will then be dismantled and moved across the River Wey and into the museum.
