Adding to its impressive rotary credentials, the Yorkshire Helicopter Preservation Group rolled out its latest restoration, Westland Whirlwind HAR.10 XP345, at the Aeroventure museum, Doncaster, Yorks, on September 26. Over 40,000 man hours have gone into rebuilding the airframe from a stripped hulk rescued by Jim Smith, to how it looked when servingrnwith 84 Squadron at Akrotiri, Cyprus, in March 1982.rnWith minor details still to finish, the search continues for parts for this and the other helicopters in the collection. Any leads for Whirlwind components - an exhaust extension in particular - would be appreciated.
